LAWNS

New lawns
Under suitable and dry conditions, continue to cultivate spring seed beds, adding the appropriate top dressings and fertilisers. If the weather is wet, delay until later in the month, or until March.
Established lawns
Continue aeration, scarification and brushing treatments in dry conditions. Apply sharp sand to heavy wet soil, and loam and organic materials to light porous soils.
In dry weather scatter worm casts. Moss invasion may be serious now. Try to discover the cause; it may be bad drainage or impoverished turf. Correct poor physical conditions and treat the moss with lawn sand.
