ROSES
Roses may be planted if the soil is dry or just moist but not if it is wet and sticky, or if there is a frost or snow on the surface.
Roses when cannot be planted at once can be left in the nurseryman's packing for up to a week.
If planting has to be delayed still longer, remove the plants from the packing and heel them in.
If the roses cannot be heeled in because there is ground frost or snow, cut off any leaves on the plants, then wrap the roots and lower parts of the stems with moist sacking and keep in a frost-free place.
Under glass
Maintain a temperature of 16ºC (61ºF) during the day and 7ºC (45ºF) at night.
Once a week, fill the pots to the top with water which is at the same temperature as the air in the greenhouse.
